Our RYA practical training base is at Mayflower Marina with skippered charter yachts at both Mayflower and Sutton Harbour.

Start Point Sailing has been established as RYA Sail training Sea School  in Devon for over 20 years offering the full range of RYA Sail Cruising Scheme practical and theory courses.

We continue to offer you the best sail training experience and have adapted to a mix of traditional and digital navigational tools including the Raymarine Axiom Chartplotter and Radar series.  The RYA is the world leader in sail training and our RYA instructors match that status.  Our instructors are professional, knowledgeble friendly sail training professionals who have spent their lives sailing the oceans and seas and are passionate about what they do.

Our focus is you, supporting you through in your sail training journey, giving you the highest level of sail training experience as you move through the RYA Sail training scheme and beyond.

We are passionate about what we do and have developed quality sail training and marine focused activities that are up to date, relevant and at the right level for your chosen course.

We include a variety of sail training scenarios for you to enjoy within a fun, safe and challenging environment under the guidance of your friendly, qualified and experienced instructor.  Our fantastic sail training area is in an area of outstanding natural beauty including our Devon RYA Sailing School home port of Plymouth which encompasses 6 miles of River complex, Plymouth Sound and some spectacular anchorages, and to seaward, The River Yealm and Noss Mayo, Salcombe, Dartmouth, Teignmouth and the Cornish ports of Looe, Fowey, Falmouth.  Enjoy  Channel Islands and Isle of Scilly milebuilding and skippered holidays or less adventurous South West Country 2 – 7 day breaks.
